Nancy is a German, self-taught artist living and working in the United States. Under the name Kunterbunt Noir, she creates poetic, story-driven paintings that exist between color and shadow, tenderness and unease.
Her work draws from folklore, myth, and intuitive symbolism in dreamlike landscapes. These spaces feel familiar yet unsettled, inviting viewers to imagine their own narratives rather than offering fixed meanings. Emotional depth, quiet vulnerability, and a sense of inner movement shape each piece, allowing contrast to coexist without resolution.
Working outside traditional academic frameworks, Nancy’s self taught practice follows instinct and feeling over convention. Her paintings offer moments of stillness - places where softness, darkness, and imagination meet.
Meet the Artist
I create paintings that invite viewers to dream, escape, and enter moments of storytelling. My work offers a moment to escape into my own world—one shaped by emotion, memory, and imagination.
Painting is both a personal refuge and a way of translating inner experiences into visual form. Through color, texture, and symbolic imagery, I build atmospheric scenes that feel open and suggestive rather than fixed.
I want each work to feel like a quiet passage into another space—where viewers can slow down, feel, and create their own story within it.
